Merlin CARE IMS Officially Launched at C.A.R.E. conference in San Diego

The recent CARE conference in San Diego was the chosen location for the launch of Merlin's latest service - the CARE Inventory Matching System (IMS).

Merlin has been working with CARE (Cooperative Association of Resort Exchangers) in the US to develop an easier way for their members to interact and trade with each other online. Previously, the chosen method of communication and trade was using email blasts. The CARE IMS has been produced to automate this process and make trading easier and more efficient.

The IMS allows members who have inventory available for rental or exchange to upload their availability (both potential and actual) into the IMS and for those members looking for availability in these areas to view it, request it and then book it. The transaction is then handled in Merlin which tracks all trades so members can track and record the entire process automatically. Members can also choose who they want to trade with.

All CARE members have now been set up within the IMS and are ready to trade. The Merlin Team also provides free weekly online training sessions to all CARE Members so that they can get the most from the IMS.

This is the first system of its kind developed for the Vacation Ownership Industry and we hope to provide similar systems to other organisations around the world.

Merlin begins Beta testing of C.A.R.E. Inventory Matching System

Today began the first successful online Beta testing session of the Inventory Matching System (IMS) for C.A.R.E. Members.

In order to refine and perfect the IMS functionality, which has been in development for the past 3 months, a series of Beta tests is required before the online software can be officially released.

The online Beta testing sessions, managed by Mike Pnematicatos, consisted of seven C.A.R.E. members carefully selected due to their knowledge and expertise of how the organisation works.

The testing sessions will continue weekly as additional functionality is added as required by the organisation’s members. The official launch of the IMS will take place during the C.A.R.E. Annual Conference held in Wisconsin, USA, from 2 – 5 May, 2009.

Merlin beats the competition and is chosen to build an Inventory Matching System for Members of C.A.R.E.

The Cooperative Association of Resort Exchangers (C.A.R.E.) has chosen Merlin to build an online Inventory Matching System (IMS) that will enable its members to share resort inventory with each other online.

This announcement was made during a presentation to delegates by Alain Carr of C.A.R.E. and Mike Pnematicatos of Merlin at the Fall C.A.R.E. Conference held in Breckenridge Colorado.

The proposed IMS will allow C.A.R.E. Members to display their inventory availability online and give other Members the opportunity of reserving this inventory for wholesale rental of to offer as exchanges for their owners and members. The IMS will also allow Members to request inventory where none has been displayed and those with inventory will be able to make offers to meet these requests.

The aim of C.A.R.E. in commissioning the IMS was to add a much needed value added benefit for Members and to help them to move from old fashioned, inefficient email and manual systems to an online database driven system for the information age. Merlin fulfilled the prerequisites set by the C.A.R.E. Board and was appointed to develop the system because of their high level of expertise, in-depth understanding of the industry and short lead time to project completion. Merlin's unique and proven online software capabilities for the vacation ownership industry also played a factor in the Board's decision.

"We are excited to be given the opportunity to finally introduce a new way of sharing inventory to the vacation Ownership Industry and are humbled to have been selected by C.A.R.E. to build the IMS for their Members" said Mike.
